The Tabit Smart Farmer Application was first launched in 2012 under the name “Vodafone Farmer Guide,” reaching 65,000 members. Five years later, with Vodafone’s decision to unify all its platforms, Tabit redesigned it as the Smart Farmer Application, and in 2020, it was introduced as a dedicated support tool for farmers. This application provides instant solutions to farmers’ agricultural problems, staying by their side at all times. Users can communicate with expert Agronomists and Veterinarians, ask photo-based questions, and receive personalized consultancy for their crops.
Within the app, users can follow agricultural news, learn about field days, and attend events such as Agricultural and Livestock Fairs. Important information such as Agricultural Weather Forecasts and market prices (wholesale and exchange) is quickly accessible. The Smart Farmer Application also offers exclusive discounts and benefits, enabling farmers to shop with partner institutions. Its Marketplace feature allows buying and selling machinery and equipment, as well as connecting products directly with buyers. The app also includes sections like “Share Your Idea” and “Let’s Share Your Posts” for communication and knowledge exchange among farmers.
Problem Addressed by the Project
The application was developed to help farmers manage their agricultural activities more efficiently and consciously. It also provides solutions for tracking market prices and selling products at better rates.
Social, Economic, and Environmental Impact
- Social: The app allows farmers to easily access agricultural knowledge and market information, enabling informed farming and enhancing social well-being.
- Economic: Farmers can sell their products at better prices and manage their activities more efficiently, strengthening their economic position.
- Environmental: With sensor management, agricultural processes are performed more efficiently and accurately, contributing to sustainable use of natural resources.
Our Solution Strategy as an Agricultural Solution Center
The Agricultural Solution Center aims to increase agricultural productivity and sustainability through technology-based solutions. The Smart Farmer Application was developed in line with this strategy.
Distinctive Features of the Solution Strategy
Unlike other agricultural applications, the Smart Farmer Application serves both as a knowledge platform and a sensor-based agricultural data monitoring tool. Farmers can make informed decisions to sell their products at better prices while managing agricultural operations more efficiently.
SDG Impacts of the Project
- Zero Hunger, Food Security, and Improved Nutrition: The application provides farmers with agricultural knowledge and data for more efficient production.
- Decent Work and Economic Growth: By enabling farmers to be economically strong and manage their activities effectively, the app supports better livelihoods and job opportunities.
