Project Objective
In traditional melon cultivation in the region, average yields per dönüm (≈1,000 m²) range between 3–5 tons. The primary objective of this project is to increase productivity and maximize profitability.
Implemented Work
In traditional melon production in the region, the following practices were applied:
- Yield-increasing measures were implemented to mitigate risks caused by high temperatures.
- Root water needs were monitored using IoT technologies, and early production was carried out 45 days in advance to begin sales during peak market periods.
- Mulching was applied to the roots to protect melon seedlings from temporary frost periods.
- Plant nutrition was optimized using IoT technologies.
Results and Outcomes
- A 150% increase in yield was achieved within 2.5 months.
- Revenue increased by 85%.
- A comparison was made between traditionally cultivated melons and melons produced with technology-enhanced methods to highlight the productivity and income differences.
