Innovative and Technology-Supported Olive Production: High-Density Model

Project Objectives
Designed to address challenges in traditional olive production, this agricultural model aims to:

  • Increase productivity
  • Reduce costs and labor
  • Achieve early production
  • Obtain high-quality olive oil

Implemented Work

  • The innovative olive production model was implemented using a trial orchard with Agromillora Arbequina variety saplings.
  • A total of 378 olive trees were planted on a 2.5-decare area.

Benefits

  • The high-density model allows more olive trees per unit area, resulting in higher yields.
  • Fully mechanized planting and maintenance processes reduce labor costs and provide economic advantages for producers.
  • The high-density method enables earlier fruiting, allowing investments to return quickly.
  • Reduced labor requirements help mitigate increasing agricultural costs.
  • Row-based harvesting machines were used to fully automate olive harvesting, producing high-quality extra virgin olive oil.
