Project Objective
The main goal of the lettuce production project is to provide a more economical and sustainable cultivation method without limiting access for small family farmers, who face high costs with modern greenhouses. The project aims to produce high-value lettuce even during the winter season using low-cost high tunnels. Additionally, it targets an increase in lettuce yield per unit area and overall productivity per dönüm (≈1,000 m²).
Benefits
- Economic Access: The project enables small family farmers to produce lettuce economically without the need for modern greenhouses, contributing to increased income levels.
- Sustainability: Practices such as low-cost high tunnels and mulching technology support environmentally friendly and sustainable lettuce production.
- Quality and Productivity: Efforts are made to increase both the quantity and quality of lettuce per unit area, enhancing farmers’ income and productivity.
- Cost Reduction: Soil and water analyses ensure correct application of plant nutrients, and mulching reduces unnecessary costs and labor expenses.
Implemented Work
- Increased yield per unit area by improving product quality.
- Conducted soil and water analyses to provide plants with appropriate nutrients and prevent unnecessary costs.
- Maintained optimal soil temperature using mulching technology to support healthy plant growth.
- Controlled weeds with mulch, thereby reducing labor costs.
