Vodafone Farmer Training Truck

Launched in 2009, this special project was carried out under the leadership of Tabit, a social enterprise playing a significant role in the agricultural sector. As the service provider for Vodafone Farmer Club Services, Tabit aims to support innovation and knowledge sharing in agriculture. This project marked the beginning of a transformation in the sector, creating a significant impact across Turkey. The training trucks, designed specifically to meet farmers’ needs, aimed to enhance agricultural knowledge nationwide.

The experiences gained from the project and the increasing knowledge levels of farmers laid the groundwork for the Smart Village initiative under Vodafone Farmer Club Services. The project demonstrated the need for greater innovation and technology integration in agriculture. Consequently, the Smart Village project was developed with goals of digitalization and sustainability in mind.

In implementing this pioneering project, the expertise of provincial and district agriculture directorates and agricultural chambers was effectively utilized. Farmers were provided with accurate and up-to-date information on livestock management, crop protection, irrigation, forage crops, and harvest techniques. Mobile communication also played a crucial role, allowing farmers to quickly access needed information via their mobile phones.

The project reached over 300,000 farmers at 150 locations across Turkey, significantly increasing their agricultural knowledge. As a result, Turkey’s agricultural sector experienced a knowledge-based transformation, enhancing productivity. Throughout this project, Tabit remained dedicated to meeting the needs of the agricultural community and made a lasting impact on the sector.
