EU Belmont Forum PREMISS Project – Innovative Approaches for Sustainability

The Pathways2020 project is a significant initiative in which the Smart Village serves as a pilot area for the application of technologies and educational programs. Utilizing innovative methods such as Agent-Based Modeling (ABM), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Citizen Science, the project aims to design pathways toward sustainability and contribute to the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

The first objective of the project is to conduct an interdisciplinary literature review on agent-based modeling and simulation techniques used in sustainability projects, document these methods, and establish a coherent methodological framework. The second objective is to test and evaluate the effectiveness and applicability of IoT-based smart farming applications in the context of the biosphere, agriculture, human activities, and the environment (SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 15: Life on Land).

TABIT plays a key role in this important project. Through its technological expertise and knowledge in Smart Village initiatives and sustainability, TABIT provides significant contributions. TABIT has extensive experience in the use of innovative methods such as Agent-Based Modeling (ABM) and the Internet of Things (IoT).

TABIT works on establishing local teams and bringing together researchers and non-academic stakeholders on a multidisciplinary basis to create an international interdisciplinary group. By disseminating innovative methodologies in sustainability science, these efforts aim to inspire impactful work in sustainable development and smart agriculture.

The Pathways2020 project, through this collaboration in Smart Village and sustainability, contributes to the economic and social empowerment of communities and represents a significant step toward future sustainability goals. TABIT’s leadership in these efforts has achieved notable progress in the field of sustainability and greatly supported the project in reaching its objectives.
