As the TABIT family, we are also part of the Clean Fashion Movement!
We stand against the frenzy of consumption for the sake of our world and our future.
We ask ourselves: do we really need it? Do you think we really need it?
Are we aware that while we add items to our carts recklessly, we are consuming the world’s increasingly scarce resources even faster?
And what about what we lose during production—are we aware of that?
Doesn’t what we lose make your conscience ache as well?
- All workers involved in denim sandblasting in Turkey contracted the deadly disease silicosis. 126 workers lost their lives to silicosis.
- In 2012, a fire at Pakistan’s Ali Enterprise factory claimed 254 lives, and 117 workers died in a fire at Bangladesh’s Tazreen factory.
- In the 2013 Rana Plaza collapse, 1,138 workers lost their lives.
We are losing…
- Out of 3 million workers in Turkey’s textile sector, only 1.25 million are formally registered.
- According to UNICEF’s 2020 report, 100 million children are affected by the textile sector, either as working children or children of workers.
- Globally, only 2% of the 60 million textile workers earn a livable wage.
- The fashion industry consumes an average of 93 billion cubic meters of water annually.
- Only 13% of produced textile products are recycled, and only 1% is properly repurposed.
- In Northern Chile, unsold Alton garments—at least 39,000 tons—end up in desert landfills.
- Insufficient inspections and the pressure for cheap production cause new disasters every year.
To prevent this from continuing into our future:
We must slow down; produce fewer but higher-quality items, manufacture existing garments responsibly, extend the lifespan of materials, and improve the impact of fashion on our planet and society. The environmental cost of overproduction and overconsumption in the fashion industry leaves toxic traces in nature.
Black Friday exacerbates this exploitation. Join our fight against the waste crisis in the fashion industry. As the TABIT family, we support the Clean Fashion Movement initiated by Bego Jeans.
If we do not stop this madness, we will continue to lose.
We cannot afford any more loss!
Can you?
